Sugar syrup

5 tbsp sugar
5 tbsp water

Basil smash

1 bunch basil, leaves torn off, a little set aside
12 tbsp gin (approx. 200 ml)
8 tbsp lemon juice
some ice cubes

Utensils

One airtight jam jar (approx. 500 ml) and 4 glasses (approx. 200 ml each)

Sugar syrup

Bring the sugar and water to the boil in a small pan, simmer until the sugar has dissolved, leave to cool.

Basil smash

Fill the glasses with ice cubes. Place ¼ of the basil in the jam jar, crush gently with a ladle. Add 3 tbsp of gin, 2 tbsp of lemon juice and 2 tbsp of sugar syrup, fill the jar with ice cubes, seal tightly. Shake the jar well for approx. 30 secs. Pour the cocktail through a sieve and into a jar, garnish with the reserved basil leaves. Repeat this step three more times.

Good to know
Tip: The sugar syrup can also be made in larger quantities. The sugar to water ratio always remains the same. Bottled and stored in a cool place, this drink will last approx. 1 month.
