Dough

Mix the butter, icing sugar and orange zest in a bowl, whisk in the egg yolks. Combine the flour and baking powder, mix in, quickly combine to form a dough. Shape the dough into a ball, flatten a little, cover and leave to chill for approx. 30 mins.

To shape

On a lightly floured surface or between two sheets of baking paper, roll out the dough in batches to approx. 4 mm thick. Cut out heart shapes (approx. 4 cm in diameter). Place the biscuits on two baking trays lined with baking paper.

To bake

Approx. 10 mins. per tray in the centre of an oven preheated to 200 °C. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, leave the biscuits to cool completely on a rack.

Icing

Place 1½ tbsp of the reserved orange juice in a bowl, add the icing sugar, mix to form a thick icing. Coat the biscuits with the icing, leave to dry.

Good to know
Tip: You can cut out hearts of different sizes.
