The blogger and cookbook author loves to prepare extensive aperitifs.
When her daughter turned 2, Nadja began looking for new recipe ideas for everyday use. The inspiration she found led to her first cookbook and her passion for simple family food. Nadja began her blog "familienhäppchen.ch" in 2015. In 2017, she renamed it "LouMalou.ch". It contains recipes and lots of lifestyle, food and family topics, which are beautifully served as appetizing morsels.
Nadja Zimmermann spent 13 years as a radio/TV producer, editor and presenter. Today she is the author of the "Unser Menü eins" series, a blogger (incl. for Hello Family), a passionate family woman and creative problem solver.
Why did you start a blog?
Through my cookbooks, which featured different families and their favourite recipes, cooking became an increasingly important part of my professional life. And because I wanted to introduce my own creations to the world, I finally began a blog. At the time, I was supported by an international brand.
What dish or ingredient have you recently rediscovered?
I'm a huge fan of cocoa nibs. I came across them some time ago, but they are still worth their weight in gold in muesli. And I've been making my own granola for a while. It's absolutely delicious!
What inspires you?
My eyes and ears are always open – whether I'm with friends, at my mum's, reading a magazine or surfing the Net. I pick up pictures here and there and they take on a new life in my head.
How do your culinary creations start?
My most exciting creations come from improvising with leftovers. I even surprise myself with the results, which are mostly positive.
What music do you listen to when cooking?
I regularly compile my own playlist. It's called "kitchensound" and is publicly accessibly on Spotify. I'm always listening out for new songs and mixing them in with my all-time favourites. Music is just as important to me as the ingredients when I'm cooking.
What food makes your soul sing?
Chocolate. In any form. I love it with fruit – with candied oranges for example. I also love a table full of exotic delicacies where you can just pick and choose.
I prefer to cook alone. Although this is also due to the fact that we have a tiny kitchen.
