Her «Happy Soul Food» is pizza and Indian curry.
Mango sorbet, octopus salad and paella: even as a child, Fanny had a brilliant taste for food – perhaps it had something to do with the fact that she was surrounded by «cooking enthusiasts» during her younger years. She started with baking cakes and trying out new recipes at a young age. As much as she enjoys cooking for others and hosting guests, she loves nothing more than pottering around in her kitchen alone.
«Fanny the Foodie» started in May 2013. The blog is a colourful mix of sweet and savoury dishes. You can find delicious breakfast recipes like granola, banana bread, and pancakes, and also tasty curries, tacos, salads, and special pasta recipes.
How did you first get into cooking?
I’ve always been enthusiastic about the gourmet world. I’ve been told that even when I was a very young girl I really enjoyed eating food – I always wanted to have the «adult food» rather than the bland spaghetti or fries.
How and where do you gather your favourite recipes?
On my blog and also, at the moment, on a Word document that will soon be transformed into a book.
What kind of music do you listen to while cooking?
Hmmm, that changes regularly. I love to listen to music on my record player, and because I only have a few records I usually listen to Alt-J. I also love jazz while cooking – especially Michel Peturcciani.
Do you stock any tinned foods in your pantry? And if so, which kind?
Yes. Tomato puree, tomatoes, chickpeas and sometimes artichoke hearts. I generally try to buy fresh ingredients as often as I can.
Which foods can you not tolerate at all?
Celery and turmeric.
I love using Zatar and lemon peel to give dishes a bit of pop.
