Barbecued bratwurst hot dog
Ingredients
for 4 person
2 tbsp | white wine vinegar |
½ tbsp | liquid honey |
¼ tsp | salt |
150 g | carrots, cut lengthwise into thin strips |
3 | onions, halved, cut into strips |
½ tbsp | sugar |
½ dl | water |
2 tbsp | olive oil |
¼ tsp | salt |
4 | veal bratwurst |
4 | bread rolls (e.g. Bürli) |
5 tbsp | mayonnaise |
1 ½ tsp | Sriracha-Sauce |
4 sprig | coriander, leaves torn off |
How it's done
Carrots
Whisk the vinegar and honey in a bowl, season with salt. Add the carrots, knead well by hand for approx. 1 min., set aside.
Onions
Place the onions, sugar, water and oil in the grill tray, season with salt, mix well.
Charcoal/gas/electric grill
With the lid down, grill the tray of onions over/on a medium heat (approx. 200 °C) for approx. 15 mins., mixing the onions from time to time. Grill the sausages at the same time for approx. 5 mins. on each side. Slice the rolls lengthwise but do not cut all the way through, briefly grill alongside.
Hot dogs
Combine the mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce. Divide the onions and carrots between the bread rolls, add the sausages, top with the Sriracha mayonnaise and coriander.
