Halloumi fries

Grilled halloumi with salad is one of our favourite quick summer dishes. This summer, however, we’re switching it up and deep-frying the halloumi. It tastes delicious and works wonderfully as an appetizer or as an accompaniment to salad.

Ingredients

for 4 person

Halloumi
80 g white flour
½ tsp paprika
500 g halloumi, cut into fries approx. 1 cm thick
To deep-fry
  oil, for deep-frying
To serve
4 tbsp pomegranate seeds
½ bunch peppermint, roughly chopped
1 tsp Za'atar (spice mix)
150 g plain greek yoghurt
lime, cut into wedges

How it's done

Halloumi

Mix the flour and paprika in a deep dish. Toss the halloumi in the mixture.

To deep-fry

Fill a pot to 1/3 with oil and heat it to approx. 170°C. Lower the halloumi fries into the oil in batches using a slotted spoon, deep-fry for approx. 1 min. while turning. Remove and drain on paper towels.

To serve

Plate up the halloumi fries, garnish with the pomegranate seeds, mint and za’atar. Serve with yoghurt and lime wedges.
