Gala cheese puff pastry parcels
Ingredients
for 32 pieces
160 g | cream cheese (e.g. Gala) |
1 | pear, diced |
1 | red chilli pepper, deseeded, finely chopped |
2 tbsp | unsalted pistachios, roughly chopped |
1 tbsp | honey |
¼ tsp | salt |
a little | pepper |
2 | puff pastry dough, rolled into a rectangle, quartered lengthwise, cut into eighths crosswise |
1 | egg, beaten |
½ tbsp | olive oil |
1 tsp | sambal oelek |
How it's done
Filling
Combine the cream cheese with all the ingredients up to and including pepper.
Puff pastry parcels
Spoon the filling onto one half of each piece of dough. Cut out any shape you like in the centre of the free half of dough (e.g. circle, star, moon). Brush the pieces of dough with a little egg, lay over the filling and press the edges down firmly with a fork. Place the puff pastry parcels on an oven tray lined with baking paper, then brush with the rest of the egg.
Bake
For approx. 30 mins. in the centre of an oven preheated to 200°C. Remove from the oven, place on a cooling rack. Combine the oil with the sambal oelek, brush the hot pastry parcels with the oil mixture and leave to cool
