French toast bake
Ingredients
for 8 people
| 5 dl | milk |
| 2 | eggs |
| 1 parcel | vanilla sugar |
| 50 g | icing sugar |
| 500 g | zopf bread, cut into 1.5 cm-thick slices |
| 125 g | blackberries, cut in half |
| ½ tbsp | icing sugar |
| ¼ tsp | cinnamon |
| 125 g | blackberries |
| 1 tbsp | lemon juice |
| 1 dl | single cream, beaten until light and frothy |
How it's done
Bread bake
In a wide dish, mix the milk with all the other ingredients up to and including the icing sugar. Place the zopf slices in the egg mixture in batches, allow to absorb for approx. 2 mins., turning once. Layer the slices of bread in the prepared dish so that they overlap slightly, pour the mixture over the top, scatter the blackberries on top.
To bake
Approx. 35 mins. in the lower half of an oven preheated to 200 °C. Remove, allow to cool slightly.
To serve
Mix the icing sugar and cinnamon, dust over the bake. Combine the blackberries and lemon juice, spread on top along with the cream, serve warm.
