Brigadeiros are delightful little Brazilian patisserie – irresistible sweets that impress with their simplicity and flavour. Brigadeiros date back to the 1940s and have become an indispensable tradition in Brazil. These soft, delicious balls are made of condensed milk, cocoa and butter, and coated in chocolate sprinkles. Their creamy, sweet flavour makes them suitable for any occasion, including birthdays, parties and more formal special occasions.

Ingredients

for 15 pieces

Truffle mixture
3 ½ dl sweetened condensed milk
30 g cocoa powder
20 g butter
To decorate
150 g chocolate sprinkles

How it's done

Truffle mixture

Place the condensed milk, cocoa powder and butter in a pan, bring to the boil and simmer over a medium heat for approx. 10 mins., whisking continuously. As soon as the mixture thickens and turns creamy, remove the pan from the heat and continue to whisk briefly. Pour the mixture into a bowl, lay cling film directly on top of the mixture, leave to cool, chill for approx. 2 hrs.

To decorate

Divide the mixture into 15 portions, shape into balls with wet hands, roll in the chocolate sprinkles.
