Onion confit as a gift
Ingredients
for 6 glasses
| 1 dl | water |
| 3 tbsp | coarse cane sugar |
| 500 g | red onions, halved, cut into thin strips |
| 1 tsp | salt |
| 1 | star anise |
| 2 tbsp | crema di Balsamico (balsamic cream) |
How it's done
Onion confit
Mix the water and sugar in a pan, bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, add the onions, salt and star anise, cover and simmer for approx. 30 mins., stirring occasionally. Add the balsamic, cover and simmer for approx. 15 mins. While still boiling hot, transfer the confit to the clean, warmed jars, seal immediately.
