BBQ tofu
Ingredients
for 4 people
| 1 tbsp | olive oil |
| 1 | onion, coarsely chopped |
| 1 | garlic clove, coarsely chopped |
| 3 tbsp | tomato puree |
| ½ dl | apple vinegar |
| ½ dl | water |
| 1 tbsp | mustard |
| 1 tbsp | maple syrup |
| 1 tbsp | soy sauce |
| ¾ tsp | smoked paprika |
| ¼ tsp | salt |
| 400 g | smoked tofu, cut into approx. 1 cm slices |
| 1 tbsp | olive oil |
How it's done
Tofu
Heat the oil in a pan. Sauté the onion, garlic and tomato puree for approx. 2 mins. Add the vinegar and all the other ingredients up to and including the soy sauce, simmer over a low heat for approx. 10 mins., stirring occasionally, season the marinade, puree, allow to cool slightly. Brush the tofu with half of the marinade.
Charcoal/gas/electric grill
With the lid down, grill the tofu over/on a medium heat (approx. 200 °C) for approx. 4 mins. on each side, brush with a little of the reserved marinade towards the end of the cooking time and serve the rest as a sauce.
