Apple doughnuts
Ingredients
for 10 pieces
| 2 | apples, cut into slices approx. 5 mm thick |
| 1 | puff pastry dough, rolled into a rectangle (approx. 25 x 42 cm) |
| 1 | egg, beaten |
| 1 tsp | coconut palm sugar |
| ½ tsp | cinnamon |
| icing sugar, to dust |
How it's done
Apple slices
Using an apple corer, remove the core from the apple slices to leave a hole. Roll out the puff pastry, cut lengthwise into approx. 1 cm strips, wrap the apple slices in the pastry, place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Brush the pastry with egg, mix the sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle on top.
Bake
Approx. 25 mins. in the centre of an oven preheated to 180 °C. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, leave to cool completely on a rack. Dust the apple doughnuts with icing sugar.
