Classic hot dog buns
Ingredients
for 8 pieces
| 500 g | white flour |
| 1 ½ tsp | salt |
| 50 g | sugar |
| ½ cube | yeast (approx. 20 g), crumbled |
| 50 g | butter, cut into pieces, soft |
| 2 ½ dl | milk |
| 1 | egg |
| 1 | egg yolk, beaten |
How it's done
Dough
Mix the flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Add the butter, milk and egg, mix and knead to form a soft, smooth dough. Cover and leave to rise at room temperature for approx. 1½ hrs. until doubled in size.
To shape
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Using your hands, stretch each piece of dough into a rectangle (approx. 15 x 10 cm). Fold in from both long sides to the centre, fold together lengthwise. Knead the ends of the dough together. Place the buns side by side on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cover and leave to rise again for approx. 30 mins. Brush the buns with the egg yolk.
To bake
Approx. 15 mins. in the centre of an oven preheated to 200 °C. Remove from the oven, leave to cool on a rack.
