Hot dogs with merguez
Ingredients
for 4 people
| 1 | fresh egg yolk |
| 1 tsp | lemon juice |
| ½ dl | olive oil |
| salt and pepper to taste | |
| 2 tbsp | honey mustard |
| 200 g | kohlrabi, cut into thin slices |
| 150 g | carrots, cut into thin slices |
| ½ tsp | salt |
| 4 | sausages |
| 4 | bread rolls (e.g. hot dog rolls or sandwich rolls) |
| 4 | cornichons, thinly sliced |
| 8 | radishes, thinly sliced |
| 50 g | fried onions |
How it's done
Mayonnaise
Place the egg yolk and lemon juice in a bowl, mix thoroughly using the whisk attachment on a mixer. Add the oil drop by drop to begin with, then more gradually, stirring constantly to form a thick mayonnaise. Whisk in the mustard. Set aside 3 tbsp of the mayonnaise.
Coleslaw
Add the kohlrabi and carrots to the bowl containing the mayonnaise, season with salt.
Charcoal/gas/electric grill
Grill the sausages over/on a medium heat (approx. 200 °C) for approx. 10 mins. all over.
Hot dogs
Cut open the bread rolls lengthwise, spread with the reserved mayonnaise. Fill with the coleslaw, sausages, cornichons, radishes and fried onions.
