Chai Espresso Martini

Ingredients

for 1 glass

Chai syrup
1 ½ dl water
40 g coarse cane sugar
cardamom pods, crushed
½  cinnamon stick
star anise
2 pinch nutmeg
1 bag black tea
Cocktail
2 ½ cl Martini Bianco
½ dl espresso
some  ice cubes
To serve
a little  cinnamon

How it's done

Chai syrup

Bring the water to the boil in a pan along with all the other ingredients up to and including the nutmeg. Remove the pan from the heat, add the tea bags, cover and leave to steep for approx. 5 mins. Remove the tea bags, bring to the boil once more, turn down the heat, reduce to a syrupy consistency for approx. 10 mins. (yields approx. 3 tbsp). Leave the syrup to cool, pour through a sieve and into a shaker.

Cocktail

Pour the Martini and espresso into the shaker. Top up the shaker with ice cubes, shake well for approx. 30 secs. Pour the cocktail into a glass.

To serve

Decorate the cocktail with cinnamon.
