Mulled wine granita

Are you looking for a new twist on a classic recipe that can be enjoyed at a dinner or party during the festive period? If so, then this is the one for you! This recipe combines the classic flavours of mulled wine in a frozen granita that will impress everybody.

Ingredients

for 4 person

Mulled wine
7 ½ dl full-bodied red wine
100 g sugar
organic orange, zest peeled with a peeler
organic lemon, zest peeled with a peeler
cinnamon stick
cloves
allspice
Granita
some  peppermint leaves

How it's done

Mulled wine

Pour the wine into a pan along with all the other ingredients up to and including the allspice, bring to the boil, reduce the heat, simmer over a low heat for approx. 20 mins. Remove the pan from the heat, leave to cool.

Granita

Pour the mulled wine through a sieve into a stainless steel bowl. Cover the mixture and freeze for at least 6 hrs. or overnight. Remove, scrape the mixture with a fork until grainy, divide between glasses, garnish with mint, serve immediately.
