Candy apples with smoked almonds
Ingredients
for 8 pieces
| 8 | sour apples |
| 8 | long wooden skewers |
| 350 g | sugar |
| 50 g | liquid blossom honey |
| 2 tbsp | water |
| 1 tsp | lemon juice |
| 4 tbsp | smoked almonds, coarsely chopped |
How it's done
Apples
Remove the stem and bud from the apples, thoroughly rub dry to ensure the caramel sticks to the apples. Insert the wooden skewers into the top of the apples in place of the stem.
Caramel
Boil the sugar, honey, water and lemon juice in a wide pan without stirring. Reduce the heat and simmer, swirling the pan occasionally until a light brown caramel has formed. Remove the pan from the heat.
Candy apples
Carefully dip the apples into the caramel one at a time, twirl them so that they are coated all over in caramel, place on a sheet of baking paper, sprinkle with almonds, leave to dry.
