Sloppy Joe
Ingredients
for 4 person
clarified butter, for frying | |
500 g | minced meat (beef) |
1 tsp | salt |
¼ tsp | pepper |
1 | red onion, finely chopped |
1 | carrot, cut into cubes |
1 | garlic clove, squeezed |
2 dl | meat bouillon |
80 g | ketchup |
2 tbsp | BBQ sauce |
2 tbsp | tomato puree |
1 tbsp | apple vinegar |
½ tsp | smoked paprika |
4 | burger buns, cut open |
100 g | mild Gruyère, coarsely grated |
2 | gherkins, sliced lengthwise |
How it's done
Mince
Heat the clarified butter in a frying pan. Brown the meat in two batches for approx. 2 mins. each. Remove from the pan, season, reduce the heat, wipe the cooking fat from the pan, add a dash more clarified butter if necessary. Sauté the onion, carrot and garlic in the same pan for approx. 5 mins. Pour in the stock and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, add the ketchup, BBQ sauce, tomato puree, vinegar and paprika together with the meat, mix, simmer for approx. 10 mins.
Sloppy Joe
Toast the burger buns (cut side down) in a frying pan for approx. 1 min. Remove from the pan, place the meat, cheese and gherkins on the bottom half of the buns, cover with the top half, press down gently.
