Grilled cevapcici
Ingredients
for 4 person
600 g | minced meat (beef and pork) |
3 | garlic cloves, squeezed |
1 tsp | baking powder |
½ tsp | paprika |
¾ tsp | salt |
½ tsp | pepper |
16 | wooden skewers |
400 g | beans |
salted water, boiling | |
500 g | waxy potatoes, cut into cubes |
2 tbsp | olive oil |
1 tsp | cumin, crushed |
½ tsp | chilli flakes |
¾ tsp | salt |
2 tbsp | hazelnuts, coarsely chopped |
1 tbsp | peppermint, finely chopped |
100 g | Ajvar (pepper spread) |
How it's done
Cevapcici
In a bowl, mix the meat with all the other ingredients up to and including the pepper, knead well until the ingredients have combined to form a compact mass. With wet hands, shape the mixture into 16 rolls approx. 10 cm long, thread onto the skewers.
Vegetables
Blanch the beans in salted water for approx. 5 mins., drain, cool immediately in ice-cold water. Remove, drain well. Mix the beans and potatoes with the oil and spices, place the vegetables in a grill tray.
Charcoal/gas/electric grill
Cover and grill the vegetables over/on a medium heat (approx. 200 °C for approx. 20 mins., turning occasionally. Place the cevapcici alongside and grill on all sides for approx. 10 mins. Season the vegetables with salt, mix in the nuts and mint. Serve the cevapcici with the vegetables and ajvar.
