As far as I'm concerned, apple sauce should always be homemade. First of all, apple sauce takes no time at all to make. Secondly, it contains no added sugar. And thirdly, it's just far better. It goes with all kinds of dishes, such as my ricotta pancakes. These can also be found on my blog.

Ingredients

for 4 person

1 kg apples (cooking apples, e.g. Boskoop), peeled, cored, sliced
1 tbsp lemon juice
¼ tsp cinnamon
½ dl water

How it's done

Bring all of the ingredients to the boil in a pan, reduce the heat, cover and cook over a low heat for approx. 15 mins. until soft, stirring occasionally. Puree until smooth using a hand blender, leave to cool.
