What do you cook when you want a burger? This vegan burger made with black beans, of course! It has a spicy flavour and it's full of protein, thanks to the beans. A delicious yet healthy treat. As far as I'm concerned, the best thing about a burger is its toppings! They give a burger an individual touch. I've chosen to use fresh lettuce, tomatoes and a home-made red coleslaw, but the possibilities are endless. Place your burger in your favourite bun and enjoy your meal!

Ingredients

for 6 pieces

1 tin black beans (net weight approx. 290 g), rinsed and drained
red onion, coarsely chopped
yellow pepper, coarsely chopped
garlic clove
1 tbsp BBQ sauce (Sriracha)
25 g breadcrumbs
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp Maizena cornflour
1 tbsp water, cold
  oil for frying

How it's done

Put the drained beans, onion, pepper and garlic into a food processor. Push the mixer button a few times until everything has been chopped, but is still coarse. Put the mixture into a bowl, stir in the sauce, breadcrumbs and seasoning. Stir the cornflour into the water, stir into the mixture.

With wet hands, shape the mixture into 6 burgers. Fry in hot oil for approx. 1 1/2 mins. on each side until golden-brown.
