Could there be a nicer Christmas present that something home-baked? Actually, for me, there is one thing that tops that: a homemade cookie mix in a jar! If your loved ones like baking, these jars are the perfect idea. The jars can be assembled in five minutes for a simple, homemade gift. Stick a pretty label to each jar listing the other ingredients and the baking instructions. And there you have it - a wonderful gift for friends and family members who enjoy baking (and eating!). The cookies themselves are packed with spices for that cosy, warm winter mood: think ginger, cinnamon, cardamom...

Ingredients

for 20 pieces

Basic mix
100 g wholemeal flour
70 g white flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
1 tbsp Maizena cornflour
110 g cane sugar
1 ½ tsp ginger powder
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp sea salt
1 pinch ground cardamom
100 g chocolate buttons
When giving as a gift, write the following instructions on a label and stick to the jar:
120 ml sunflower oil
90 ml maple syrup

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, then pour into a jar.

Pour the contents of this jar into a bowl and mix in 120 ml of sunflower oil and 90 ml of maple syrup. Shape the mixture into approx. 20 cookie balls and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper, leaving enough space between each ball. Don't flatten the balls, as they will rise during baking.

Bake for approx. 10 mins. in the centre of an oven preheated to 180°C.
