Plum dumplings
Ingredients
for 4 person
250 | low-fat quark |
50 g | butter, soft |
¼ tsp | salt |
1 | egg |
1 | organic lemon |
200 g | zopf flour |
1 tsp | baking powder |
8 | plums |
8 cube | cane sugar |
salted water, boiling |
6 tbsp | cane sugar |
How it's done
Combine the quark with the butter, salt and egg. Grate a little lemon zest and stir in. Mix the flour with the baking powder, add and quickly combine to a smooth dough.
Slice the plums so that the two halves are still connected. Replace the stone with 1 sugar cube and fold the plums together again. Shape the dough into a roll, cut into 8 evenly-sized pieces. Flatten the pieces, place 1 filled plum in the centre of each piece, wrap in the dough and shape into a ball. Steep the dumplings in batches in gently simmering salted water for approx. 20 mins. per batch, remove with a slotted spoon, drain.
Coat the dumplings with the sugar.
Serve with a vanilla sauce.
