Claudia - stylingqueen

Our FOOBY blogger has turned her passion for food and cooking into her profession. Claudia has been working as a food and set stylist for film and photo productions for the last 16 years. She loves visiting foreign cities where she always finds new inspiration. She has done the rounds of just about every flea market on the hunt for new accessories. Let her inspire you.

I cook all over the place for my blog

The avid cook and stylist has been running her blog "Stylingqueen.ch" for two years, combining her love of photography with her passion for creating new recipes.

How did you come up with the name for your blog?

StylingQueen has been my family's nickname for me for years. I've been a stylist for 20 years and have spent the last 16 years working as a food stylist, which I guess is what got me the name. And who wouldn't want to be queen of the family!

Why did you start a blog?

In my job as a food stylist, the dishes are always predetermined. As I also like to try out new things myself from time to time, I began to take photos of my own dishes. This allows me to document my creations and also gives me a good feel as to whether a dish looks appetizing and appealing, or whether it's visually lacking. Over time I accumulated a fair few photos, which I then posted on my blog.

How and where do you keep your favourite recipes?

On the book shelf, Pinterest and in my notebook. I'm glad I have a large studio with my own kitchen as there's no longer room for all of my cookbooks at home, let alone all my cookware.

What dish or ingredient have you recently rediscovered?

I sampled a wonderful tartar on my last trip. It was served with fresh parmesan.

How do your culinary creations start?

Mostly with leftovers. If I'm missing something for a recipe, I replace the ingredient with something from my fridge. I've created many tasty dishes this way.

Which fragrance evokes positive memories for you?

The smell of fresh marbled Gugelhupf. It always reminds me of my birthday.

As a food stylist, it's important for the dishes to be tastefully presented. They should whet the appetite for cooking and trying them out.
